Marilyn Ruth Kohn Shaver of Stone Mountain passed away on October 10, 2007 at the age of 82. She was born on July 30, 1925 in Oak Park, Illinois and moved to Avondale Estates with her family in 1932 where she attended Avondale Elementary School and graduated from Decatur Girls High in 1942. She married Yancy Lee Shaver in 1947 and they enjoyed 50 years of life together until his death in 1998. Marilyn was a member of the Lutheran Church of The Redeemer from 1932 to the present. She was known for her generous hospitality and expressive personality. She worked at Decatur Federal Savings and Loan as a young woman and later at Lilly Rubins dress shop where she loved selling beautiful designer clothes. She is survived by her sons, John Shaver and his wife Susan, Mark Shaver and his wife Michelle; grandchildren, Jennifer, Elizabeth, Gabrielle and Mark Shaver, Jr.; sister, Gerrill Kohn Shealy; niece, Peggy Forsberg and her husband Edward; great nieces and nephews; and two great great nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 15th at 11 a.m. at the Lutheran Church of The Redeemer in Atlanta with Pastor Mary Peters officiating. There will be a reception for the family beginning at 10 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at A. S. Turner & Sons
