A heartfelt tribute to Marino from his friends in Grand Cayman
Marino and I met, back in 1985, I was conducting job interviews for the new resort "The Grand
Pavilion Hotel" in Grand Cayman. Fay was one of the applicants, I noticed from her application
that her last name was Flelli, I asked her that her last name is Italian, her reply was, I know I am
married to an Italian, his name is Marino Flelli. I was new to Grand Cayman, I was interested in
meeting Italians on the Island, she mentioned that Marino was downstairs waiting for her, so I
asked her to call him. Marino and I remain friends till the day he left us. Three weeks before his
passing, Marino and I had a telephone conversation as we often did during his therapy in
Atlanta, he mentioned that he was getting stronger and putting on weight as his appetite came
back, he was eating more, I was happy about this news.
Marino in his humble and gentle way of dealing with life, sadly left us a few weeks later. Those
of us that knew him, admired him and respected him for his hard work ethics and for the
respect he had for his employees. Marino was one of the most hard-working people I have ever
met, he was working in Periwinkle restaurant with me, as well as owning a laundry business,
collecting laundry from several restaurants after he finished his shift. Marino also owned two
very successful restaurants, Bella Capri and Portofino Restaurant; he was always present
making sure that his customers received the best service.
My wife Susanna and I were privilege to have known Marino and Fay, his longtime wife and
companion.
May you rest in Peace Marino, you will always be in our thoughts.
Our sincere condolences to Fay and the Flelli Family

I met Marino in the late eighties, it was one of the few Italians in the island at the time and
been both in the restaurant business we got along quite well and became friends.
Marino was the kind of person who you never forget, He made people feel at ease, trough is
hard work he was very successful, and open several restaurants through the years, he made a
perfect match for Faith his long-Life love and provide for his kids.
One of the fun memories I have of him was playing cards at night after work, it was one of the
few times you would see him seating and relaxing and usually win most of the times.
His passing is a great loss for us all, I also know that Marino been a very practical man, wouldn't
want us to sit around mourning, and instead would want us to look towards the future and
think on what we can do to make this world a better place.
In His memory, let's try our best.

"I met Marino when I was young in 1986 and for me, he was an inspiration even then he was a
multi entrepreneur always ready to give advice and help both family and friends.
His resilience and his work ethics was unmatched in all his projects, always the first to show his
face to demonstrate that Generals are the first to go to battlefield, his way of solving and
knowing all the manual aspects of his work has no equal, it was the emblem of work that
ennobles man.
His way of being humble, his calm, his goodness, he sealed his business deals with a handshake
because his word had value, thank you Marino for all the beautiful card and poker games we
had, even if in the end you always won, because you were the best at it.
I'm sure that up there waiting for you for a poker game there are already your friends and
companions of many adventures, Giuseppe and Eduardo.
Thank you, Marino, for the honor you have done me for being a friend. I'll miss you, continue
with your projects my project. One day we will meet again."

I met Marino Flelli more than 25 years ago, in a moment of my Life when I needed help and
security.
Marino in those years that I worked for him (almost 10 years) was like an uncle figure. He was a
Great man with a BIG HEART.
He helped me and many others, in moments of need, and that it's hard to find. I will always
remember him, with is calm and quiet way of doing things. Always humble and available for
everyone.
R.I.P. Marino
I am sure you are in a beautiful place in Heaven.

I met Marino in the late 1980s a little while after my arrival on the Island.
I was introduced to him by his wife Fay.
I have always known Marino to be a very hard-working man, determined and smart in the
Restaurant business.
Where some people had doubts, he always showed to be sure of what he was doing ahead of
the crowd thinking. Portofino in East End is an example of it.
Marino was also a great card player. I have fond memories on some of those late nights, playing
cards with Roberto, Radames, Toni and of course Valerio, on which he often had lighthearted
banter throughout the games.
Marino will be sorely missed.
My thoughts are with Fay today and the family.
My most sincere condolences.

To my friend Marino
I worked for Marino at Bella Capri for a few years 1994-97. I enjoyed for him as he was a good
Boss & a good businessman and treated his staff well. We felt like we were family.
After leaving Bella Capri we remained friends over the past fifteen years. We
Like to get together and played card games with other Italian friends. Sometimes we cooked
food and stayed up very late having fun. While some of us were very competitive card players.
Marino was easy going and just enjoyed the social time.
He was very happy for me when I got married and attended our wedding. When my wife
Sharon met him, she liked him instantly and said that he was a kind Gentle soul.
Marino told me about his illness before he left for Atlanta, and we kept in touch
During his time there. Speaking via phone and WhatsApp. He expresses his concerns about his
health but was more concerned about Faith and what would happen after he was gone. Marino
will be remembered as a kind caring loving man who was always taking care of others.
