Marion Meador, 88 years old, of Stone Mountain, GA passed away on Sunday August 30, 2015. She was born in Stone Mountain, GA. Marion was a loving mother and grandmother, a lifelong Democrat and baseball fan, especially the Atlanta Braves. She graduated valedictorian at Stone Mountain High School, received a Bachelor of Science with honors from Georgia State University, and Masters in Public Health from Emory University. Marion worked at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for over 30 years beginning as a secretary and becoming an epidemiologist. Her primary work was in tuberculosis for which she was co-author on several research publications including the leading study of its time on extrapulmonary tuberculosis in the United States. Marion is survived by her 3 children (Kimford J Meador, MD; Darlene M. Meador-Osborn, PhD; Keith A. Meador, JD), 7 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 4th at 2:00 pm at the First Christian Church of Decatur at 601 West Ponce de Leon Ave, Decatur, GA. Rev. Dr. James Brewer-Calvert will officiate. A reception at the church will follow immediately after the services. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Marion's memory to the First Christian Church of Decatur. A. S.
