Marjorie Ann Lawler

May 17, 1926 — May 6, 2020

Marjorie Ann Thompson was born in Atlanta May 17, 1926 to Lawson F Thompson and Mildred Dobson Thompson.

She was the second of five children. They lived on Altoona Place in West End, then moved to a new house on Pasdena Ave. Margie attended Girls High and later Shorter College. She married the love of her life, Robert Ben Lawler, in Sept.1944. "Tubby", as he was fondly known, flew B17s in WW II, but Margie was stricken with polio.

She received wonderful care at Warm Springs, GA. and life continued on with the arrival of Bud, Kathy , and Jim. Margie was determined to raise her children- she did it and she did it well! She never dwelled on her limitations. She welcomed her five grandchildren, Mandy Lawler, David and Brian Corbett, Dan and Jessica Lawler.

Life became more challenging after Tubby died in 1995, but for years she managed living alone. She loved visits from her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren- Anna and Avery Bergamini, Siler and Linden Corbett and Aubrey and Wade Corbett. Spring of 2014 she moved to Regency House to have some security. Margie handled it well, making friends and zipping around on her scooter. September 2018 she some experienced further mobility issues and had been bedridden since then, but always saying "when I get up..." She died peacefully and we rejoice that she is no longer in pain, and is with her beloved Tubby once more.
