Marjorie Deaton of Decatur died Saturday, October 15, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband, Travis Deaton. She was born in Stanley County, NC to Douglas A. and Ellen Singleton Turner. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carole and Don Guffey of Atlanta, GA; granddaughters and their husbands, Elizabeth and Zeke Thomas of Atlanta and Amy and Tim Clay of Johns Creek, GA; a great granddaughter, Tyler Grace Clay of Johns Creek, GA; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Deaton was a member of Decatur First Baptist Church, the Federation Women's Club and the DeKalb Federal Garden Club. She was the owner of Kathryn's Dress Shop in Asheboro, NC and always active in her church life serving as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. She held a strong belief in both, foreign and local missions. Graveside services will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at Oaklawn Cemetery in Asheboro, NC. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may send contributions to the Andrew P. Stewart Center, Box 17772, Atlanta, GA 30316. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Monday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
