Marquitta Joan Daniels

Marquitta Joan Mullins Daniels, 77, of Atlanta, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2016. Born February 9, 1939, in London, KY, she was the daughter of the late Joe Mullins and Beatrice Hyde Clements. She coached girl's youth soccer through the Rockdale Youth Soccer Association and played for the adult team. Marquitta was a graduate of Murphy High School - class of 1957 and studied fine arts at Brenau University. 'Marq', as she was often referred to by her friends and co-workers, started her career with General Motors as a cost accountant where she retired after 20+ years. After retiring from GM, Doraville, she was employed by Allied Ready Mix. She had a great love for animals and enjoyed dancing at Fred Astaire Studio where she met her life partner of 35 years, Fred Alton Hembree.

In addition to Fred, she is survived by her daughter, Kelly Futch Pollack; two sons, Nicholas Paul Cafagno and Tony Matthew Cafagno; thirteen grandchildren; and one great grandchild. She also helped raise Cheryl Thompson, Robert 'Bobby' Thompson, Charles Kevin Thompson, Daniel Nazario, and Melanie Ann Daniels.

The family will have a private graveside celebration and scattering her ashes at Decatur Cemetery, Decatur, GA.
