Martha Annette Eidson

May 1, 1942 — March 28, 2013

Martha Annette Wood Eidson, 70, of Dacula, died Thursday March 28, 2013. Her courage and grace in her final battle with cancer were an inspiration to family and friends. Born on May 1, 1942 in Rome, Georgia, Annette was the oldest daughter of Wallace Eugene Wood and Martha Rooks Wood. She married David Arthur Eidson of Stone Mountain on March 18, 1962. She and David were married 51 years. Annette retired from DeKalb County Schools where she was the secretary at Briarlake Elementary School. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She made others laugh with a delightful sense of humor even in the face of difficult circumstances. Survivors of Mrs. Eidson include her husband, David Arthur Eidson; her mother, Martha Rooks Wood Jones; her two children: Holly Eidson Barrett and Darryl David Eidson; and four grandchildren: Ryan Barrett, Katie Eidson, McKenna Eidson, and Aidan Barrett. Her sister and two brothers also survive her: Phyllis Wood Mann, Wallace Eugene Wood, Jr. and Michael Westin Wood; five nieces and nephews: Kenneth Mann, Katie Mann Cheatham, Tara Wood Plummer, Stephen Bradshaw, and Charles Bradshaw. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University, Development Office, 1762 Clifton Road, Suite 1400, Atlanta, GA 30222.
