Martha Dean

Mrs. Elizabeth Ayers Dean, age 84, passed away on July 22, 2005 in Jacksonville Beach, FL. A long-time resident of Decatur, she worked as an executive secretary for the law firms of McCurdy, Candler and Harris and of Walter P. McCurdy Sr. for many years. Mrs. Dean was an active member of First Baptist Church of Decatur for over 50 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Thomas C. Dean. Survivors include a son, John H. Dean of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, a daughter, Claudia Smith (Donald), also of Ponte Vedra Beach; two brothers, John B. Ayers of Newnan, GA and Howard W. Ayers of Decatur. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 25th in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons with Dr. Harold D. Zwald officiating. Interment Floral Hills Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Building Fund of First Baptist Church of Decatur, 308 Clairemont Ave., Decatur, GA 30030. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
