Martha E. Wade Wise

Martha E. (Wade) Wise (Mickey), 84, passed away peacefully on 6/28/2021 with her family by her side. She was born in Covington, GA on December 4, 1936 and grew up in West Monroe, LA where she graduated from West Monroe High School in 1954. On October 25, 1957, she married Donald L. Wise (Don) of Porterdale, GA and settled in Tucker, GA where they lived for over 50 years. Mickey loved to garden and joined the Twilight Tillers Garden Club in DeKalb County where she was also an active member of the Tucker Woman’s Club and DeKalb Federation of Garden Clubs. During these years she volunteered at the Callandwalde Mansion to help restore the historical site, now known as Callanwalde Fine Arts Center, as well as many garden installations and beautification projects throughout DeKalb County. At age 50, she returned to school to earn a teaching certificate at DeKalb Tech in Clarkston, GA and held various positions at Idlewood School in Tucker until her retirement. In addition to gardening, Mickey also loved crafts of all types and even dabbled in painting in her 80’s.
Mickey was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Donald L. Wise, parents George W. Wade and Lillian Sanders Wade and sister Mittie Wade. She is survived by her daughters Christie Lissemore (Jeff) and Jenifer Farid and son, Jeff Wise (Tracy), brothers Billy Wade and Mike Wade, sisters Debbie Wade, Penny Janis and Sue Wade, sister-in-law Janey Hooper (Gene) and Aunt Celie Flynn. She had 6 grandchildren: Blake Lissemore and Mandy Lissemore, Trevor Farid and Chelsea Farid, and Jackson Wise and Mitchell Wise. She also had 4 great grandchildren: Connor Lissemore, Korbin Farid, Kamden Farid and Eli Farid Vernon. As part of a very large family, Mickey has too many cousins, nieces and nephews to name, but she loved each and every one of them.
At Mickey’s request, the family will hold a private service to honor and celebrate her life.
