Martha Ewing Manning

March 1, 1920 — July 7, 2008

Martha Marie Ewing Manning (b. March 1, 1920, Atlanta), world traveler, Druid Hills Baptist Church staff member since 1968, passed peacefully on July 7, 2008 at age 88. She was also active in the Woman's Missionary Union and served as President of the Decatur Lioness Club. Prior to her 40 years working for her church as Director of Senior Fellowship and later Church Historian she was a theatrical booking agent with Arnold Agency for 19 years and prior to that managed the Old Wisteria Gardens restaurant next door to The Winecoff Hotel in the 40's as the 'youngest female nightclub manager in America' during that era. She was a graduate of Girls Commercial High in 1938. Her parents were Ruth Green Ewing and Arthur B. Ewing. She was the second of seven children, six of whom survived to adulthood. She was preceded in death by her husband Otis Manning, a magician, in 1963. She is survived by her son, Craig O'Manion, and his three children Rory, Kelsey and Tessa. She was a member of Druid Hills Baptist Church since 1931.  Memorial service to be held Sunday July 13 at Druid Hills Baptist Church with family visitation at 2 PM and service at 3 PM. Donations in her name may be made to Woman's Missionary Union (wmu.com) or VistaCare Hospice Foundation (vistacare.com).What a wonderful life she led!
