Mrs. Martha V. Guild, 85, of Tucker, Georgia died peacefully at home on Tuesday, June 14, 2005, after a brief illness with lung cancer. She was a native Georgian, growing up in Decatur, a daughter of the late Victor G. and Frances S. Verdi. She graduated from Decatur Girls High School. Mrs. Guild was preceded in death by her brother, Victor G. Verdi, Jr. She attended the University of Georgia at Athens and was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. She and her husband lived in Greensboro, N.C. for 27 years and were charter members of Guilford Park Presbyterian Church. They have been members of Mt. Paran Church of God in Atlanta for the past 21 years. She is survived by her husband of 64 years Edgar M. "Ned" Guild; two daughters, Jay Mizeras and her husband, Alan of Hendersonville, N.C. and Marty Blackmon and her husband, Gary of Greensboro, N.C.; two grandchildren, Eric P. Mizeras of Eagle River ,Alaska and Laura M. Renshaw and her husband, Scott of Sandy, Utah; and two great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Anna Renshaw; a sister, Betty DeSimone of Englewood, FL; and three nephews, Vic Verdi of Lilburn, GA, Philip Stillman of Newberry, FL and Eugene Wilkes of Athens, GA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 18th in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons with Dr. David Cooper officiating. Interment Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Turner & Sons.
