Mrs. Jean Minor Ashworth, 91, of Carrollton, GA, formerly of Decatur, died Thursday, November 8, 2007. She was preceded in death by her husband, U.S. Army Col. Talmadge D. Ashworth; sister, Virginia Minor Jarrott; and brother, G. C. Minor, Jr. Mrs. Ashworth is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Jim Kesler of Carrollton, Shelley and Ron Lee of Stone Mountain; grandchildren, Jonathan and Amy Kesler of Canton, Jason Kesler of Carrollton, Jennifer and Justin Allen of Carrollton, and Matthew Lee of Stone Mountain; great granddaughter, Avery Kesler of Canton; sister-in-law, Bobbie Harris Minor of Birmingham, AL; and several nieces and nephews. A resident of Decatur for over 33 years, Mrs. Ashworth was a true lady and a devoted military wife, where she made friends all over the world. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Mrs. Ashworth was an elementary school teacher for several years and was a member of the Ft. McPherson Post Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, November 12, 2007 in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons. Rev. Karla Otroszko and Rev. Arch Baker will officiate. Interment 9:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at Arlington National Cemetery, Washington, D.C. For those desiring, a memorial contribution may be made to either Carrollton First UMC, 206 Newnan St., Carrollton, GA 30117 or Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 5801 Hugh Howell Rd., Stone Mountain, GA 30087. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 5:00 P.M. Sunday at A. S. Turner & Sons, Decatur.
