Martha Joy Huggins

Martha "Joy" Creel Huggins, 99, passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2020 at Budd Terrace Nursing Home, Decatur, Georgia. The daughter of the late Oliver Creel and Maude Martin Creel, Joy was born in Carrollton, Georgia. She attended West Georgia College in Carrollton, Georgia and upon completion of a two-year Normal Diploma, she taught sixth grade at Sand Hill School. In 1942, Joy married Willie Ray Huggins of Carrollton, Georgia. They were married for 39 years until his death in 1981. They had a daughter, Nita Raye, who passed away in 1973. Joy is survived by her daughter, Kathy Winstead, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Burial will be at Jacksonville Memory Gardens in Orange Park, Florida. No services are planned at this time. Memorial donations may be sent to Christian Appalachian Project, Lexington, KY or New Hope United Methodist Church, Carrollton, GA.
