Martha White Douglas, 82, of Avondale Estates, Decatur, and Tucker died Wednesday, February 11, 2009. She was born in Pike County, the daughter of Homer and Leila White. She was married for 31 years to John Millard Douglas of Griffin, and worked for many years as a staffer for the Georgia State Senate, retiring in 1991 as secretary to the President Pro Tempore. She was a long time faithful member of Mt. Carmel Christian Church. She is survived by her brother, Doug of Thomaston; her children, Scott, Sharon and Keith; and seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 14, 2009 at 10:00 A. M. at Mt. Carmel Christian Church with Rev. Phil Gambill officiating. A family interment service will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Griffin. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to the Alzheimer’s Association of Georgia in her memory, 1925 Century Blvd., N.E. Suite 10, Atlanta, GA 30345-3315.
