MARVIN DALE GALARZA
Marvin Dale Galarza was born on February 21, 1942 in Los Angeles, California to Odell & Louise Galarza. Marv had 2 older sisters, Delores, who passed away in 2017 and Carolyn Jean, who passed as an infant before Marv was born. Marv was born into a family that encouraged friendships and social interaction with the Spanish/Basque community. He and his family were extremely proud of their Basque heritage. Marv and Delores were both active in the Spanish/Basque dancing group in California, as was Frances, who would later become Marv's wife. He had a special love of Basque history that he shared with his children. In 1960, his father passed away suddenly, which was a shock to the family. When Louise passed away in 2004, Marv and Delores remained extremely close. Marv planned multiple vacations that he, Delores and his wife, Frances enjoyed together annually for many years.
As a child, Marv was a cub scout. When he was older, he joined the Navy and eventually went to college. He graduated and started work with Western Airlines as an accountant in 1965. He loved accounting, the business world and working in the airline industry. In 1969, Marv married the love of his life, Frances Aguera. They had 2 children, Stacy in 1975 and Jamie in 1977. He loved his family and was a wonderful husband and supportive father. In 1987, Marv and his family moved to Atlanta where he began working with Delta Airlines and eventually became the Director of Revenue Accounting. He retired from Delta in 2001 and went on to work in the closing department at Keller-Williams realty for several years. Marv loved football, especially college football, cheering on the USC Trojans for decades and eventually the UGA Bulldogs. He was funny, quick-witted, fun-loving & loved by all who met him, both friends & coworkers alike.
In 2009, Marv was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, but never let it get the best of him. He enjoyed his last few years with his pride & joy, his grandson Cooper. Marv passed away on Friday, August 25, 2023 at home with family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and love him. He is survived by wife Frances, daughters Stacy Galarza and Jamie Moss, son-in-law Greg Moss, grandson Cooper Moss, nephew Mark Ferreras, niece Janine Trujillo, great-nephew Christian Trujillo and great-niece Logan Trujillo.
