Marvin Eugene Bedford, 83, of Atlanta died Tuesday, December 7, 2004. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Raymond and Beatrice Bedford. Survivors include a sister, Norma E. Smith; brother and sister-in-law, Cecil R. and Lillian Bedford; eight nieces and nephews; treasured friend, Rodney Koonce; and a host of other relatives and friends. A former Sears and Eastern Airlines employee, during World War II he spent many volunteer hours in service to his country scanning the skies for enemy aircraft. Marvin was a life long member of Candler Park Baptist Church where he made many cherished friends. Although his battle with Parkinson's robbed him of the things he most enjoyed - walks to Little Five Points, the fellowship of the church, and dinners at the Golden Buddah - he never complained and did his best to maintain a sunny disposition. Everyone was a potential friend. Marvin was a kind and compassionate man who delighted in the antics of his dog, Scottie, and who was distressed by any animal cruelty. His family looks forward to seeing him again one day but until then entrusts his spirit to God. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 9th at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons, Rev. Mimi Walker officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
