Mr. Marvin Henry Smith, Jr., 88, of Atlanta, died Tuesday, July 9, 2013. Mr. Smith was born in Culverton, Georgia, attended Emory at Oxford, and then served in the US Army in Europe during World War II. He received the Bronze Star for meritorious service in combat. Following the war, he
graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a degree in textile engineering. He was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church in Decatur, and Vice President of Southern Sizing Company. Active in politics after his retirement, Mr. Smith served as Treasurer of the Georgia
Republican Party. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife, Cindy W. Smith. He is survived by his daughter, Cindy S. Miller; son-in-law, Michael H. Miller; nephews Lee Tyler of Columbia, SC; Sam Hendrix of Gulf Breeze, FL; Pat Hendrix of Prattville, AL; David Wingard of Lexington, SC; and niece Cissy Corley of Irmo, SC, and their families. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 13 at 2 p.m. at Oak Grove United Methodist Church with family receiving friends in the church parlor following the service. In
