Mr. Marvin Paul Cocchi, 83, of Stone Mountain died, Sunday, February 14, 2010. Mr. Cocchi was a native of Atlanta and a graduate of Tech High School in 1944. He served in the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Mr. Cocchi graduated from the University of Georgia in Atlanta in 1953 and worked 33 years for the U. S. Government. as a special agent with the Internal Revenue Service and an L & D officer with the Small Business Administration. He was preceded in death in 2005 by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Dobbs Cocchi. He is survived by sons, Marvin Cocchi Jr. and his wife Joy of Boaz, AL, Tony Cocchi of Kennesaw, Douglas Cocchi of Avondale Estates, and Rocky Cocchi of North Augusta, SC; daughter, Elaine Schimmack of Suwanee; 9 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; brothers, Marion and Betty Cocchi of Douglasville, Bill and Lyra Cocchi of Mansfield; and sister, Beatrice Turner of Conyers; several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite, 1001 Johnson Ferry Rd., N.E.. Atlanta, GA 30342. A memorial service will be held in the Chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons at 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 17. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service at A. S. Turner & Sons.
