Mary A. Bowers

March 3, 1929 — January 29, 2008

Mary Alexander Bowers, age 78, of Atlanta, GA passed away January 29, 2008.   She was preceded in death by her husband Larry S. Bowers and her daughter Mary Elizabeth (Beth) Bowers Newsome of Warrenton, GA.  Mary is survived by her son David Lawrence Bowers of Woodstock, GA, and grandson, Alex; her son, Jeffery Lisle Bowers of Tucker, GA, his wife Denise, granddaughter, Kristi; grandson, Matt and his wife Shannon, her son, Greg Allan Bowers of Gainesville, GA, his wife Connie, and grandson Stephen her son-in- law, Gaynor Jordon Newsome, grandson Josh, granddaughter and husband Paige and JC Culberson of Austin, TX, great-granddaughters Libby Kate and Peyton, brother, Robert Alexander of Newnan, GA; and sister, Elizabeth. Mary was born in Newnan Georgia in 1929.  She married Larry and enjoyed over fifty years together.  They traveled the country and raised their family and returned to Georgia for good in early 1961.  Mary and Larry enjoyed life and shared a lifetime of love, support, joy, sorrow and comfort with their friends, their community, their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was an active member of Briarcliff United Methodist Church, acted as a hostess once a month at the Governor's Mansion.  Her hobbies included bridge, gardening, knitting/crocheting and traveling.  Mary provided a positive role model to all that knew her with her warm smile and caring nature.  We will all miss her greatly. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday February 2nd at Briarcliff United Methodist Church.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the church.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Diabetes Association, 3 Corporate Square, Suite 120, Atlanta, GA  30329.  A. S. Turner & Sons
