Mary Ann Grammas Balsamides, 86, of Atlanta, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend passed away Friday, May 18, 2018. Born March 12, 1932 in Atlanta, GA she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Anastasia Grammas. Mary was very creative and enjoyed gardening. She was a lifetime member of the Greek Orthodox Cathedral and of the Philoptochos Society and chaired and served on many committees throughout her life.
Mary is survived by her husband of 60 years, Michael Balsamides; sons, Thomas Balsamides and his wife, Mary, and Michael Balsamides and his wife, Carrie; daughter, Georgeanne Balsamides; three granddaughters, Alexa, Kaitlyn, and Anna Balsamides; grandson, Michael Balsamides; niece, Stacie Zatzos Nefos; nephew, Peter Zatzos; and many more loving nieces, nephews, family and friends.
n addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her brothers, George Grammas and Tom Grammas; and sister, Gloria Grammas Zatzos.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. with a Trisagion Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. at A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday May 23, 2018 at the Greek Cathedral of the Annunciation, Atlanta with interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
