Mary Ann Godwin died July 23, 2010 after battling a long illness. She was born Mary Ann Wilson in the Pea Ridge Community of Decatur, Georgia on April 18, 1941 to the late Colie and Annie Wilson. Mary was the twelfth of fourteen children to be brought up in the loving Wilson family. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Gary Godwin, Sr., sons Gary Nolan Godwin, Jr. (Penny) of Suwanee, GA, and Jeffrey Lee Godwin (Teresa) of Cumming, GA, along with seven grandchildren Alyssa, Grant, Chelsea, and Madison Godwin, Tate and Stetson Godwin, and Connyr Wells. She is also survived by her three sisters, Sarah Pumo, Jeannette Martin (Charles), Chee Chee Shulenberger and one brother, Henry H. Wilson. Mary was preceded in death by her son Joseph Lance Godwin, her parents Colie and Annie, eight brothers: Louie, Curtis, Herbert, Floyd, Russell, Billy, Roy, Colie Jr., and sister, Doris Lockwood. Mary was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a supportive rock and the bonding strength of the family. She enjoyed cooking on holidays and special events for her family. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 26th at 2 p.m. at Rehoboth Baptist Church, Lawrenceville Highway, Tucker, GA. She will lie in state from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends and family from 5 until 9 p.m. on Sunday, July 25th at A.S. Turner & Sons, Decatur, GA.
