Mary Anne Johnson

Mary Anne Johnson, 85, of McDonough, beloved wife and mother, passed away on December 6, 2016. Born December 5, 1931, in Commerce, GA, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Eckford Harber and Mary Lou Parks Harber and the fifth of six children. She was a graduate of GA State University and worked for Smith Publishing before marrying Harold Christopher Johnson whom she met at Ousley United Methodist Church. Together with her brother Bob and his wife, Cora, they founded Puritan Dairy Farms, Johnson and Harber Construction and were founding members of The First National Bank of Henry County. Mother to four she was a strong business woman, gracious entertainer and homemaker. Her family will forever remember her frogmore stew, black eyed peas, biscuits, cinnamon roll and chocolate delight. Mary Anne was devoted to her church and family and tirelessly worked managing business and home. Truly a woman ahead of her time, a wife, mother and friend whose loving memory will be forever cherished.

Mary Anne is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Harold Johnson; sons, Hal Johnson and his wife, Barbara, Tommy Johnson and his wife, Pam, and Bob Johnson and his wife, Dianne; daughter, Caye Oglesby and her husband, Rich; grandchildren and their families: Brooke Johnson Gilbert and her husband, Grant, and their children, Liv, Wynne, and Brooks, Lacey Johnson, Kristen Johnson Achenbach and her husband, John, and their children, River and Connor, Thomas Johnson, Maggie Johnson, Tyler Anne Lewis and her husband, John, Robert Stuckey, Frances Oglesby, Ellie Oglesby, and Jenna Johnson; brothers and their families: Robert Harber and his wife, Cora, and Gene Harber; and many more loving family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Mary Anne was preceded in death by her siblings: Bartowe Harber, Jerome Harber, and Libby Bouwmans.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to the Decatur United Methodist Children's Home, www.umchildrenshome.org.

The family will receive friends at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, December 11, at A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home with a Celebration of Mary Anne's Life at 4:00 p.m. Dr. James B. Mooneyhan, Sr. will be officiating.
