Mary Blanche Brown

Mary Blanche Brown, 91, 0f Decatur, GA passed away at the Gardens of Roswell of Monday January 27, 2014. Blanche was born to the late John and Maude Grimes, October 22, 1922 in Milledgeville, GA. She graduated from Peabody High School in 1939 and attended Georgia State University for Women in Milledgeville, GA. She married the late Henry Mitchell Brown in 1942 and lived in SE Atlanta before moving to Decatur. Blanche worked for the Georgia State Patrol at the Headquarters. She was a homemaker and enjoyed her home and taking care of her family. Many hours were spent in her kitchen over a hot stove cooking delicious southern dishes. Shopping was also a favorite past time at Rich's Downtown and North DeKalb Mall. Blanche and Henry attended Capital Avenue Baptist Church before moving to Rehoboth Baptist Church in Tucker, GA. She loved Rehoboth and was a wonderful worker in the Nursery Department for over 40 years. Blanche is preceded in death by her brothers, Leo Grimes, LTC John Grimes and James Grimes and she is survived by her daughter, Julie Crowe and her husband, Michael of Atlanta; grandchildren, Angela and Jeremy Crowe; sister, Sue Abbott and her husband, Joe of Loveland, Co; brother Daniel Grimes and his wife, Lillie of Decatur, GA. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Brown will be held Saturday February 1st from the chapel of A. S. Turner and Sons at 1:00 pm. The family will receive friends Friday January 31st from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at A. S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory
