Mary Frances Corbett

July 31, 1927 — August 29, 2009

Mrs. Mary Jarrett Corbett of Tucker, GA, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2009.  She was born July 31, 1927 at the old St. Joseph’s Hospital on Ivy Street in downtown Atlanta and lived in Atlanta most of her life, growing up and attending schools.  She was a graduate of Joe Brown Junior High, class of ´42 and Girls’ High School, class of ´45.  She married the love of her life, James P. (Jim) Corbett, Jr., in March, 1946.  Mrs. Corbett worked at Retail Credit Company (Equifax) as a private secretary to the Vice President, from 1945 to 1949, having retired to become a mother and a homemaker.  She was, for many years, a member of Peachtree Baptist Church and before that, Colonial Hills Baptist in East Point.  She was a Christian and loved the Lord.  She is now “Absent from the body, present with the Lord” (II Cor.5:8).  Mrs. Corbett was predeceased in 1993 by the death of her husband, James P. (Jim) Corbett, Jr., (Retired Motion Picture Film Distributor); by her beloved parents, John E. (Jack) Jarrett and Mable Deckner Jarrett, both of Atlanta, and a brother, Tom W. Jarrett of Tucker.  She is survived by her most precious and devoted son, Carl H. Corbett of Tucker; her brother, John H. Jarrett (Doris) of Spartanburg, SC, formerly of Atlanta; two grandchildren, Michelle Dawn Corbett Venable (James) and John Ashley Corbett; three great grandchildren, Jeremiah, Isabella Sage and Harrison,  two nieces and one nephew.  Flowers are appreciated but in lieu, please make a donation to the American Lung Association of Georgia, 2452 Spring Rd., Smyrna, GA, 30080, in loving memory of Jim Corbett.  TO HONOR MARY’S WISHES, there will be no viewing at anytime and services will be PRIVATE at the graveside to be held Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at 2:00 P.M., at Arlington Memorial Park, 201 Mt. Vernon Hwy., N.W., Sandy Springs, GA.  Visitation will be held at the cemetery immediately following services.  Family, Minister and selected Friends, please assemble at the cemetery entrance.  Arrangements by A.
