Mary Frances Sawyer

April 19, 1935 — September 12, 2018

Mrs. Mary Frances “Ms. Blue Bird” Garrison Sawyer died unexpectedly on September 12th 2018 in Atlanta, GA at the age of 83. Mary Frances Garrison Sawyer was born on April 19th 1935 in Morganton, NC to Vernon Theodore Garrison and Pauline Hoyle Garrison. She graduated from Lenoir Rhyne with a degree in Elementary Education. She married Horace Kimbrell Sawyer Jr. M.D. in 1956. Afterwards she went on to become president and founder of the Garden Arts I and Garden Arts II, Bluebirds over Georgia Inc. and, being involved in politics, was able to meet President Ronald Reagan. Mary Francis was known for her extraordinary dreams of proficiency in gardening, dancing, singing, painting and sewing. Above all odds, she was able to turn these many dreams into her beautiful reality that left a strong impact on every person she met. She was a Caring individual who specifically above all had a love for Bluebirds and Gardenias, feeling they were always a sign of good luck; and who was able to make a difference in the world unlike any before her. She was also a devout woman of christian faith and would go on to continue her faith until the very end. A funeral is scheduled for 4:00 pm on Thursday, September 20th at Lutheran Church of Redeemer at 731 Peachtree St NE, Atlanta, GA 30308, with visitation from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Reverend Mark Larson will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Mary Francis’s life.
