Mary Goldmer Carter Buffington

Mary Goldmer Carter Buffington was born in Banks County, GA on April 5, 1908 and died in Decatur on Monday, December 6, 2004. After marrying Rufus Edgar Buffington, they resided in Akron, Ohio for a number of years before moving to DeKalb County in 1931. Her beloved husband Rufus Edgar Buffington died in 1982. She was a real estate agent, an accomplished artist and sculptor, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her son, Leonard Edgar Buffington; daughter, Mrs. Richard T. Waits; seven grandchildren, Richard Alan Waits, David Gregory Waits, Steve Buffington, Mary Lynn Berlin, Stan Buffington, Laurie Conlon, and Libby Carroll; seven great grandchildren, David, Brian, Russsell, Melissa, Ashley, Christie and Nicholas. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons, Dr. J. Hoffman Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
