Mary Jewell King, age 98, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family, on Thursday, April 28, 2022.
Mary (or Mrs. Jewel) was born on January 8, 1924, to William and Mary Marlow in the city of Cedartown Georgia.
She married Thomas King, they were a blessed couple and enjoyed each other until our father’s death in 1998. They had three sons Gary, William, and Thomas who together gave them ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. Mary was employed as a textile worker for most of her working life.
Our Mother was one of the strongest/most courageous women to ever walk this earth and our family was blessed to have her as the head of the family for such a long time. She lived life with a passion and cared for her family with unconditional love and affection. Her memory will live on in the hearts of us all. She left a mark on every person who was lucky enough to spend time with her. Her favorite pastimes were reading, playing solitaire, and jig saw puzzles. If you spent time with her, you would inevitably end up helping with the latest puzzle. You would always end up laughing your way through the experience. The saying “what happens at grandma’s stays at grandma’s” was on her wall and in her heart.
Our Mother had 10 siblings and is survived by her sister Hazel White.
To our Mom we say, in life, we loved you dearly, in death we love you still. In our hearts you hold a place, no one else could fill. Our lives were made whole, and our family held together through your strength and spirit. You truly loved God and family and taught us to do the same.
