Mary Lou Smith

August 20, 1938 — August 24, 2016

Mary Lou Bradford Smith, 78, of Lilburn, Georgia passed away Wednesday, 08/24/2016 in Griffin, Georgia with family at her side.  Mary was born in Rome, Georgia on August 20, 1938, along with her twin sister, Martha, the two youngest children of five, to William Eugene and Leastie Cordelia Bradford.  She grew up in north Georgia in simpler times and loved her family.  She loved the Lord and was a devoted mother, teaching her children to love God and keep His commandments and to respect others.  In her younger years, she was a state champion in archery!  She also liked to quilt and loved to read.  She loved knowing people and knowing about people and was known to have a smile that would light up a room.  Even in her later years with declining health, she was always checking up on people, bringing lonely people to family holiday dinners, and calling family to visit and make sure they were doing well.

She is survived by her sons Brad (Laura) Smith and Brian (Jessica) Smith, daughter-in-law Cindy Swofford, five grandchildren Nic (Charlene) Morales, Lindsay (Josh) Bannister, Mike Morales, Autumn Smith, and Bri Smith; six great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Doris Bradford, sister, Martha Flinn, nephews Bo Bradford, Jerry (Judy) Pollitt, Billy Dickerson, and John Pollitt and nieces Phoebe Walker, Heather (Craig) Lynch and Michelle (Alex) Smith as well as many great nephews and great nieces and even great-great nephews and a great-great niece as well as many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Morales, brothers Kenny and Hoyt Bradford, and sister Barbara Martin.

Mary will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
