Mary Lou Wages Akin

Mary Lou Wages Akin of Atlanta, born on December 29th in DeKalb County, passed away on Tuesday, September 4th, 2018 at the age of 89. She graduated from Tucker High School and attended Marsh Business College.

Mary Lou married Donald Goss Akin, Sr. in 1948. They were devoted to one another until his passing in 2015. Mary Lou enjoyed gardening, china painting, and arts and crafts. She was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church where she was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and received her 8 year pin.

Mary Lou is survived by her daughter, Carol Akin Beaird, and her granddaughter, Michelle Elizabeth Beaird, both of Houston, TX, along with her sister, Billie Wages, of Decatur, GA.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Livsey Memorial Cemetery Fund, which Mary Lou established, in care of Mrs. Rebecca Teems, 2610 Amberbrook Lane, Grayson, GA 30017.

At Mary Lou’s request, she will have visitation at A.S. Turner Funeral Home on Saturday, September 8th at noon followed by a graveside service at Floral Hills Memory Gardens at 2:00 pm.
