BALDWIN, MARY MCCORMACK-

Mrs. Mary McCormack Baldwin died at her Avondale Estates home Sunday, November 25, 2007, at the age of 88. She was preceded in death by her husband John A. Baldwin, parents, James F. McCormack, Mildred W. McCormack, brothers, Merlin McCormack and William McCormack. She graduated from Martin College in Pulaski, Tennessee and Middle Tennessee State. Mrs. Baldwin taught school after college, but became a social worker in the early 1950?s, working at the American Red Cross, Fulton County DFACS and DeKalb County DFACS. She was the primary adoption worker at DeKalb County DFACS for fifteen years and upon her retirement in 1981 was adoption supervisor overseeing case workers, foster parents and children released for adoption. Mrs. Baldwin was active in the Avondale Woman?s Club, Avondale Garden Club and a long-time member of Decatur Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her son, Dr. John W. Baldwin and his wife Louise S. Baldwin; their sons, Capt. Christopher John Baldwin and wife Capt. Bridget D. Baldwin and Jeffrey G. Baldwin; daughter, Jean B. Baker and husband Michael S. Baker; their sons, Michael M. Jackson, Steven B. Jackson, Michael S. Baker and Matthew J. Baker; sister, Anna Ruth Kamack; sister-in-law, Mary Francis McCormack; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 Wednesday, November 28th at Decatur Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Todd Speed officiating. Interment will be in Decatur Cemetery at 10:15 AM Wednesday. Donations may be made to Decatur Presbyterian Church, 205 Sycamore St., Decatur, GA 30030 or to Hospice Atlanta, 1244 Park Vista Dr., N.E., Atlanta, GA 30319. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. Tuesday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
