*Obituary for Mary Neal Naib**

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Neal Naib, a cherished member of our community, who left us peacefully on May 26, 2024, just two days shy of her 77th birthday. Born on May 28, 1947, Mary was a beacon of dedication, kindness, and wisdom throughout her life. Mary's legacy is one of unwavering dedication to education, community service, and the pursuit of knowledge. She leaves behind countless students, colleagues, friends, and family members who were touched by her warmth, intelligence, and compassion.

Mary devoted over 30 years of her life to shaping young minds as a teacher in the Atlanta Public Schools and Dawson County Schools. Her passion for education was evident not only in her professional accomplishments but also in her personal pursuits. Mary held two master's degrees, one in education and the other in curriculum design, and was known for her insightful conversations about the evolving landscape of education.

Beyond the classroom, Mary was a pillar of her church community, where she volunteered her time and talents generously. Her faith and commitment to service were central to her life, providing inspiration and support to those around her. Mary's insatiable curiosity and love for learning never waned, and she remained a lifelong learner, always seeking to expand her knowledge and share it with others.

Mary is survived by her loving husband, Sam Naib; her two children, Nathan Hudgins and Judy Bytheway; as well as her three grandchildren, Evan, Wesley, and Lauren Hudgins. Her family was a source of immense pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

As we remember Mary, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with purpose, love, and an enduring commitment to making the world a better place through education and service. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished in our hearts. A memorial service will be held at A.S. Turner and Sons in Decatur on Saturday, June 29th from 3 to 5 p.m., where friends, family, and former students are welcome to join in celebrating Mary's remarkable life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Sukyo Mahikari at 539 Medlock Rd, Decatur, GA 30030, in honor of Mary's lifelong dedication to education and community service.
