Mary Owens Reeves was born June 7, 1923 in Wainwright, Ohio to Louis and Emma (Cardani) Bonvechio. She died Friday, January 8, 2010 at Emory Hospital.  Mary was a graduate of Tuscarawas High School Ohio in 1941. She attended St. Alexis Hospital School of Nursing in Cleveland, Ohio from which she graduated with honors in May, 1944. After graduation Mary entered the U. S. Army and was a Lieutenant at the Army Hospital in Louisville, KY. It was there that she met and married her first husband, Lynn Owens, who also worked at the hospital. Shortly after their Army discharge, their daughter, Vicki, was born and they moved to Richmond, KY where Mary's husband, Lynn, earned a Masters Degree in Education from Eastern Kentucky State University in 1950 while playing football and basketball. Mary and Lynn moved to Cook County in South Georgia, where they lived and worked from 1950 to 1960. In 1960 they moved to Decatur, GA where Lynn was an educator in the DeKalb County Schools and Mary worked at Emory University Hospital for the rest of her nursing career until her retirement. Mary met her second husband, Conrad, when he was a patient at Emory. They both lost their spouses and married in 1978. They traveled and worked in many different places during their 27 years of marriage. They were both active members of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Decatur, GA. Mary was a devout Catholic and member of the parish for 49 years. Mary and Conrad volunteered in many different ways in the Church giving many hours to the food pantry and Meals on Wheels. Mary is survived by one daughter, Vicki Gimson, and her husband, Fred of Avondale Estates. She is lovingly remembered by three grandchildren and three great grandchildren, Erica Gimson, Sean Livingston and their daughter, Eulaila Rose of Brooklyn, NY; Mary (Gimson) Reabe, husband, Damon Reabe and their daughter, Caroline, and son, Max of Ripon, WI; and Elizabeth (Gimson) Edsell and husband, Mark Edsell of South Royalton, VT. A memorial mass will be held on Tuesday, January 12 at 10:30 A.M. at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 2560 Tilson Road, Decatur, GA, 30032. Father Eric Hill will preside. A private interment will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church Building Fund, 2560 Tilson Road, Decatur, GA, 30032. The family will received friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, at A. S. Turner & Sons on North Decatur Road.
