Mary Clarke Peteet , beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother was born October 8, 1910 and passed away Wednesday August 19, 2015.She attended NAPS and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Agnes Scott College. Her scholarship to Johns Hopkins University was unused as she chose to remain in Atlanta with her ailing Father and family. She worked as a librarian for the Atlanta Public Library and as a Greek tutor before marrying one of her students, Dennie R. Peteet, who was her loving husband for 62 years. She loved the certainty of mathematics, the shade of Atlanta's trees and the taste of chocolate. She is survived by her four sons, Dr. John (Jean) Peteet, Dr. David (Pat) Peteet, Dr. Paul (Amy) Peteet and Peter (Ana Vizurraga) Peteet; two daughters Dr. Dorothy (Brian Lee) Peteet and Mary Ellen Peteet; her brother, Hal Clarke; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 on Monday August 24 at A.S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 pm Westview Cemetery with Rev. J. Caleb Clarke officiating.
