Ms. Mary McCord Tierney, 90, a lifelong resident of Atlanta died Sunday morning August 17, 2014. Mary was a graduate of Wesleyan College and a career elementary classroom teacher in the DeKalb County Public schools. She was a devoted supporter of Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church, Action Ministries Atlanta, and Habitat for Humanity. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Richard Tierney, Sr. and her daughter Katherine Scott Craycraft of Lancaster, KY. She is survived by her daughter Maggie Tidwell of New Orleans, LA, son Richard Tierney of Atlanta, son and daughter-in-law Jeff and Cindy Tierney of Omaha, NE, and son-in- law Ralph Craycraft of Lancaster, KY. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren Marti Tidwell, Brian Tierney, McCord Tierney, and Rick Tierney. Mary's family invites you to join them at her visitation at A.S. Turner and Sons in Decatur from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday August 23, 2014. Funeral services will be at Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church on Sunday August 24, 2014 at 2:00 p.m.
