Mary Townsend

Sandy Speer Townsend, 83, of Atlanta, Georgia passed away peacefully on February 23, 2025. Born on January 22, 1942, was the daughter of the late LeRoy Speer and the late Lila Speer. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of over 55 years, the late Ronald Townsend, and her late beloved brother, Andy Speer and sister-in-law, the late Dr. Sandy Speer.

Sandy worked in the family business, Townsend Roofing, as secretary and treasurer. She was active in her church, Clairmont Hills Baptist Church, (later Bridgepoint Church at Toco Hills), teaching children in Sunday School and later working in the church nursery, in her later years, she would bring older members, who couldn't drive to church. She enjoyed reading all genres and would often read 2-3 books at a time. She enjoyed spending time with her loving family and often enjoyed trips with the Georgia Region Model A Ford Club, and the Southeastern region of the Antique Automobile Club of America.

Sandy is survived by her children, Rhonda Hughes(Jack), Chris Townsend(Tara), and Tiffany Tabor(Jamie) She had 6 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking you to donate to your church or favorite charity.

A graveside service is scheduled on February 27 at 3:00 p.m. at Floral Hills Cemetery in Tucker, Georgia.
