Mary W. Martin of Atlanta died October 28, 2014 at age 94. A brief memorial service will be held Sunday, November 9 at 4:30 at King's Bridge Pavilion, Briarcliff Rd., Rev. Greg Smith officiating.ÂÂÂÂÂ Mary was born in Raleigh, N.C. and attended Peace College and UNC Chapel Hill. She was a compassionate social worker, memorable Glenn Memorial kindergarten teacher, longtime volunteer at Druid Hills Community Center, Gum Creek Farm enthusiast, Druid Hillbillies square dancer, choir member, deacon, student of the Bible, Southern cook, seamstress, pianist, opera lover, world traveler, camper, bird watcher. Her refreshing honesty, quick wit, kindness, love of a good laugh, and the unassuming Âmanner in which she served others endeared her to many over her long life. Her husband, Romeo J. Martin died in 1998. She is survived by her daughters, Lucia Martin and Julie Martin, and their partners, Lynne Reid and Amanda Gable. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Atlanta Community Food Bank.
