Matilou Mckee

June 11, 1923 — August 3, 2016

Matilou Turner McKee, 93, of Alpharetta passed away August 3, 2016. She was the daughter of Mary Fields and George W. Turner. She was born on June 11, 1923 and grew up in Portal, GA. She attended Georgia State College for Women(GCSU), married Vernon McKee in 1942, and resided in Atlanta near Little Five Points after WWII with her husband and son Garry. She was a licensed real estate agent in the Metro Atlanta area for many years. She volunteered for DeKalb Medical Center for 15 years. Matilou was a life-long Baptist, a Charter Member of Clairmont Hills Baptist Church and a member of Alpharetta First Baptist Church for the past eight years. Preceded in death by her husband, Vernon McKee in 1991. Survivors include her brother, Jack Turner (Frances) of Portal; two sons, Garry W. McKee of Savannah and Algy V. McKee, Jr. (Pam) of Atlanta; daughter, Matilon Tillitski (Mike) of Alpharetta; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at Alpharetta First Baptist Church on Saturday, August 13 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Portal First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 149, Portal, GA 30450 or Alpharetta First Baptist Church, 44 Academy Street, Alpharetta, GA 30009.
