Mattie Elizabeth Dorton Whiten

Mattie Elizabeth Dorton Whiten, 91, of Decatur, beloved wife and mother, passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2016. Born September 5, 1925, in Griffin, GA, she was the daughter of the late Mattie Oneal Dorton and Mattie Beatrice Corley Dorton. She spent her career as a cloth inspector for The Scottdale Mill.

Mattie is survived by her daughter, Becky Whiten; three sons, Jimmy, Tommy, and Jack Whiten; and many more loving family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Mattie was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Guss Whiten, and her two sons, Bill and Neal Whiten.

The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Friday, September 30, at A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 1, 2016, in the chapel of A.S. Turner & Sons with Rev. Jeff Clark officiating. Interment will follow services at Dawn Memorial Park.
