Mrs. Melinda Farmer of Atlanta died Sunday, February 10, 2008. She was a teacher at Henderson Mill Elementary in DeKalb since 1999, and was a member of Briarlake Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and choir, and had a heart for missions. For the past 3 years, she courageously fought cancer. She touched many lives, and will be remembered lovingly for her active life and faithful commitment to family, friends, neighbors, students, and her church. She is survived by her husband, Wayne Farmer; sons, Neal Farmer, Judson Farmer; daughter, Whitney Farmer; mother & father, Selena & Lendell Jones; sister, Andrea Alligood and her husband Mike; nephews, Wade, Chad & Graham Alligood; and uncle & aunts, Wendell & Roberta Jones and Charles & Betty DuBose. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 13, at 3 pm at Briarlake Baptist Church, with Rev. Randy Driggers and Rev. Tommy Ferrell officiating. Interment will be at Floral Hills Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 3715 Northside Parkway; 400 Northcreek, Suite 300; Atlanta, GA 30327, or to Youth Summer Missions, c/o Briarlake Baptist Church, 3715 LaVista Road, Decatur, GA 30033. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 pm and from 7 to 9 pm Tuesday evening at A. S. Turner & Sons.
