Merle W. Griffin

Merle Willis Griffin, 82, of Clarkston, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away Friday, February 16, 2018. Born November 24, 1935, in Pelham, GA, she was the daughter of the late Casey and Verma Lee Hopkins Willis. Merle was a 16 year survivor of Pancreatic Cancer. She spent her career as a Registered Nurse. Merle was famous for her pound cakes, enjoyed reading, traveling, photography, and was an avid doll collector. Merle and her husband, Charles, were chosen grandparents to children of several families.

Merle is survived by her husband of 60 years, Charles H. Griffin, Jr.; son, Michael (Mike) Griffin and his wife, Peni; daughter, Lisa Chambers and her husband, Norman; twin sister, Merlene Thornton; sister, Pat Phillips and her husband, Maston; brothers, David Willis and Ladon Willis and his wife, Cathy; granddaughter, Morgan Griffin; and many more loving family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 23, at A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday February 24, at Clarkston International Bible Church, 3895 Church Street Clarkston, GA 30021. Interment will follow at Melwood Cemetery, Stone Mountain, GA.
