Mr. Merritt Stocum Wetzel of Atlanta died Thursday, May 10, 2007. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, the Vietnam War, and the Korean Conflict. He was stationed in Germany during World War II and retired from the Army after thirty years. Mr. Wetzel was a parishioner of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Chong Y. (Lisa) Wetzel; sons, John Wetzel, Lothar Wetzel and wife Virginia, Charlie Wetzel and wife Renee, and Robert Wetzel; daughter, Kathy and husband Kevin Dale; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and sister, Tisha Jane Abts. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A. M. Monday, May 14th at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Interment will follow at 2:00 P. M. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cemetery, Carrollton, GA with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. Sunday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
