Michael Benson Saye

September 2, 1966 — May 15, 2023

Michael Saye, 56, of Mableton, passed away on May 15th, 2023. Michael was born on September 2nd, 1966 to Virginia and Benson Saye. He graduated from Brookwood High School, and later attended Gwinnett Technical College, where he trained as a machinist. His family and friends are deeply saddened by his untimely death.

Michael married Robin Hancock of Stone Mountain, Georgia in 2000, and together they had a son, Samuel. Michael adopted Courtney, Robin's daughter from a previous marriage, that same year. Michael and Robin maintained an amicable relationship after their marriage ended. Michael loved to hunt and fish, and enjoyed teaching others. Bluegrass was Michael's favorite genre of music, and he enjoyed playing along on his banjo. Earlier in life, Michael was a talented blacksmith, and often performed demonstrations for school groups. He loved telling stories to make others laugh, had a caring heart, and was always willing to lend a hand when he noticed someone in need. Michael was a long-time employee of Glock, where he made many friends.

Michael is survived by his children from his marriage to Robin: Courtney Isabel Griffin (Kris) and Samuel Benson Saye; Three grandchildren Jolene Isabel Griffin (8), Tobin Kristofer Griffin (7), and Emerson Silas Griffin (3), to whom he was known as "Pappy", and by whom he was tremendously adored. They will forever miss his presence in their lives. Michael is also survived by his brother James "Jimmy" Saye (Ella) and niece Ke'Londyn, and his aunt, Carole Roach, as well as his partner Renee Sanders and her daughter Brittany, who called him "Daddy". The family is grateful to Renee for her devotion to Michael, especially during his hospitalization, as she never left his side. Michael is preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Saye, and father, Benson Saye, as well as grandparents, Clyde and Mary Hyde, and Hoyle and Sara Saye.
