Michael Elmore Allain

Michael Elmore Allain, seventy years old, of Atlanta, GA, passed away on Wednesday 14 September, 2016 at Emory Hospital. Michael was born on May 4, 1946 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Elmore and Cecilia Allain. He grew up in the Lakeview area of New Orleans and being from a devoutly Catholic family, attended St. Dominic School and Jesuit High School where he excelled in National Debate. After majoring in History as an undergraduate and serving briefly as a supply officer in the US Air Force, he earned his DDS from LSU Dental School. During this time, he also cultivated his artistic skills and was known as a talented portrait artist.
He married Carol Ann Bienert on 27 September 1969 in Metairie, LA and they became parents of two children. The family eventually relocated to Norfolk, VA after Mike was re-commissioned as a Navy Dental Officer. He bravely deployed to the North Atlantic on the USS Nassau and then again to the Persian Gulf on the USS George Washington. He was discharged with full honors as a Commander and retired from Active Duty in 2007.

Mike was a kind, dedicated father and husband, as well as an artist, a musician, a Rotarian, an active member of his church parish, and a member of the Church Choir. He also had a passion for Greek and Roman history and had a loving bond with his canine companions.
He is survived by his wife Carol, his daughter, Lauren, and his son, Michael.

A funeral mass is scheduled for 11:00 AM September 19, 2016 at St. Thomas More Church, 636 West Ponce de Leon Ave, Decatur, GA 30030. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Mike's life.

A cemetery service will also be held at 11:00 AM on September 21, 2016 at Hope Mausoleum, 4841 Canal St, New Orleans, LA 70119.
