Michael James Hopkins

Michael James Hopkins of Snellville,
Georgia, was born on October 31, 1951, the son
of R. Stan and Maureen Hopkins. Mike was a
long term resident of Decatur, GA, and attended
Druid Hills High School. He graduated from UGA
and John Marshall Law. Although saved and baptized at FBC of Decatur, GA, he found joy in serving Christ as an Elder at Conyers Vineyard Church, Conyers, GA. In 1972, Mike married Darlene, remaining best friends, loving partners and proud parents of four children. Mike died May 29th, 2015 after a five year courageous battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his father, his mother and his twin brother. He leaves behind to cherish his memory: his wife Darlene; three sisters: Kathy Seim, Trisha Buser, and Carolyn Hopkins and their spouses;four children: Greg Hopkins, Stan Hopkins, Lisa Fricke and Steve Hopkins and their spouses; eight grandchildren: Allie, Alyssa, Addisyn, Cole, Layland, Brayden, Luke, and Alexander; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and faithful dog Mendy. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Peachtree Christian Hospice, the Muscular Dystrophy Association in honor of DJ and Caleb Buser or to your local church if they have loved and prayed for you like ours.Services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday in the chapel at A. S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home, Decatur. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
