Michael John Maloof, Sr.

March 3, 1929 — June 7, 2007

Mr. Michael John Maloof, Sr., formerly of Atlanta, died Thursday, June 7, 2007. He retired from the City of Atlanta Police Department after 30 years of service. He also served with the Cobb County Sheriff's Department and was Chief Deputy of Floyd County. Mr. Maloof served as president of the Fraternal Order of Police and was a member of the St. John Chrysostom Melkite Catholic Church in Atlanta. He is survived by his son, Michael J. Maloof, Jr. and his girlfriend, Lisa Mize of Newnan; daughter, Jeorjette Irvin of Clarkston; twelve grandchildren; sister, Dolly Azar and her husband Dr. Gordon Azar of Dunwoody; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, June 11th at St. John Chrysostom Melkite Catholic Church, 1428 Ponce de Leon Ave., N.E., Atlanta. Father John Azar will officiate. Interment Westview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Sunday at A. S. Turner & Sons (404)292-1551.
