Michael (Mike) Steven Duffy, 65, passed away at Emory Crawford Long Hospital on January 4, 2019, with his sisters by his side. He was a 1971 graduate of Druid Hills High School, and attended Georgia Tech where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. Mike had been a dialysis patient since July 2011, and was on the transplant list until his first heart attack in March 2015, at which time he was removed from the list. Unfortunately, neither sister was a donor match. Dialysis took a tremendous toll on Mike’s body, but that did not stop him from enjoying life to the fullest - whether it was going on family vacations to Jamaica and Orlando; swimming with the dolphins at Discovery Cove; zip lining through the treetops at Historic Banning Mills; solo driving a Nascar at Atlanta Motor Speedway topping speeds over 100+ mph; or bicycling down from a mountain top in Hawaii. In the past two years, Mike’s health began to fail with several more heart attacks and hospital stays; and, dialysis continued to put more stress on his body. Mike leaves behind a son, Patrick, residing in Cary, NC; two sisters, Judy Bloodworth (husband Michael, deceased); Jane Bostwick (husband Dan); niece, Laura Bostwick Jones (husband Steven) residing in Dallas, TX; nephew, Captain Steve Bostwick, USAF (wife Katie), great niece, Grace Bostwick, and great nephew, Conner Bostwick, residing near Columbus Air Force Base, Mississippi. A private family grave side service was held at Floral Hills Memory Garden on January 7, 2019. In Mike’s memory, the family requests that those who wish may make a donation to the American Kidney Fund, www.kidneyfund.org
