Michael Waite Mann, 25, of Decatur, Georgia passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2012 in Woodbridge, New Jersey. Michael was born at Piedmont Hospital, July 17, 1986, in Atlanta, Georgia, to Anita W. Mann and F. Michael (Mike) Mann, and was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harold (Lindy) and Jean Mann and Alphonse and Anita (Dolly) Waite, and his uncle, Don Mallory. Michael was a graduate of Woodward Academy in College Park, Georgia and Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. In high school Michael excelled on the Debate and Swim teams. At Emory, majoring in Sociology, Michael worked in support of society's underserved and under-represented people. He was a social and political activist from an early age, standing up in support of those in need and where he thought an injustice had been done. Michael was working as the Director of Recruiting and the Social Media specialist for Sapta Global, Inc. He was flourishing in his role creating new ways for clients, consultants and other individuals, to connect. Michael was looking forward to his return to Atlanta where he would continue his work with Sapta. Prior to his work with Sapta, Michael was co-founder and Social Media Strategist at Guerilla Minds. He worked on several political campaigns and with organizations in support of various social issues. Michael was a kind soul with a genuine heart. To know him was to love him. To see Michael's smile and hear his laugh brought warmth and happiness to all; "to live in the hearts we leave behind is not to die." Michael is survived by his parents; his sister, Meredith Leigh Mann; aunts and uncles, Leanne Mallory, Michael & Gloria Drapac, Stuart & Karen Waite, Skyler & Janet Waite, Steve Mann, Vicki Mann; numerous cousins and other relatives. Michael also leaves a large extended group of friends. Services will be held at St. Elias Antiochian Orthodox Church in Atlanta, Saturday, March 10th, at 2:00 PM with burial to follow at the Decatur Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Michael's memory to Oxford College of Emory University c/o Dr. Michael McQuaide, Department of Sociology, 100 Hamill Street, Oxford, GA 30054.
