Mike Young Hendrix, Jr., 65, of Lawrenceville, died March 10, 2010, after a courageous battle against renal cell cancer. Born in Savannah, Mr. Hendrix graduated from Atlanta’s Bass High School in 1963. Later he earned degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Southern Tech and Accounting from Georgia State University. He was employed for many years by Rollins, Inc., where he was an Accountant. Mr. Hendrix served his country and Georgia for six years in the Army National Guard. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Carolyn Barrow Hendrix; daughter and son-in-law, Sally and Alan Hearn of Smyrna; son and daughter-in-law, Mike, III and Corey Hendrix of Dunwoody; brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Genell Hendrix of Savannah; foster sister, Lib Collins of Savannah. His grandchildren will be born later this year. His family would like for Mr. Hendrix to be remembered as a loving husband to his wife, a devoted father to his children, a dedicated worker to his employer, a trustworthy companion to his Bass family of friends, and a warm-hearted buddy to his faithful dog, PePé. The funeral service for Mr. Hendrix will be held 11 A.M., Saturday, March 13, 2010, in the chapel of A. S. Turner and Sons with Rev. Keith Moore officiating. The committal service will be held 3 P.M., Sunday, March 14, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park near Bremen. The family will receive friends from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. Friday at A. S. Turner and Sons.
