Mrs. Mildred Jean Zalvis of Decatur died Sunday, June 8, 2008. She was born in Mansfield, Ohio on June 22, 1925. She was raised in Knoxville, TN and attended the University of Tennessee. Mrs. Zalvis was a long time member of The Lutheran Church of The Redeemer in Atlanta where she sang in the choir. She retired from Bell South. Mrs. Zalvis was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Shell and her brother Jerry Thomas.. She is survived by her husband, Charles Zalvis; daughter, Laura Zalvis-Lopez and her husband Joe of Miramar, FL; son, Michael Zalvis of Decatur; brother, Bill Thomas of Knoxville; grandchildren, Erika, Jamison, Alexa and Bryson Lopez of Miramar, FL; step daughters, Sharon Matthews of Stone Mountain and Judy Pavey of Snellville; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held Thursday, June 12th at 10 a.m. at Floral Hills Memory Gardens, Pastor Debra Samuelson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
