Mildred Louise Burton

August 1, 1927 — June 24, 2014

Millie L. Burton, 86, passed away peacefully, June 24, 2014, surrounded by her loving family.

Millie was born August 1, 1927 to Luther Carl and Florida Clopton West in Pensacola Florida. She was the third of four children having an older brother, Earnest Howard,(deceased) and sister, Ethel Marie (deceased) and was followed by a younger brother , Luther Carl., Jr, who currently resides in Birmingham, Al. She spent her childhood days in Pensacola and graduated from Pensacola High School.

Millie met Kenneth Jack Burton while he was stationed at Fort Rucker, Alabama and they were married in 1956. She spent the next 30 plus years as an Army wife and mother. They lived in many interesting places in the United States and Europe and spent the last 15 years in Atlanta, Georgia. Wherever they were Millie always made their home a welcome and happy place for family and friends. She was a very active volunteer throughout her life. Some of Millie's hobbies were ceramics, silk flowers, garden club, and people watching. She never lost her love of the gulf coast and her family and friends.

Millie's life will be celebrated by her loving family: her husband, Ken; daughters, Cindy Bowen (Dwight), Shirlee Langston (Chris), Karen Weller (Bob), and Sharen Olson (Dirk); grandchildren Daniel Bowen, Jed and Maggie Langston, Doug, Melissa and Jeff Weller, and Jacob Olson.

The family wishes to thank the compassionate and caring staff at CrossRoads Hospice and Cobblestone at Park Springs.

A private internment will take place 9:30am, Friday, June 27, 2014. A reception and memorial service will follow at Park Springs Continuing Care Community at noon in the Formal Dining Room.
